We're rooted here
As Pierce County’s oldest credit union, we're proud of our local legacy. We serve you each day to help you reach your financial goals.
We're Tacoma & Pierce County's first credit union, opened in 1934
You're a member-owner of TAPCO, and we always act in your best interests

It all started with nine Tacoma city employees who created City Credit Union of Tacoma as a better, more democratic way to deliver banking services. Those humble beginnings included the first branch located under the stairs of the Old City Hall in downtown.
Years passed and membership grew, bringing about name changes to become Tacoma-Pierce County Employees Credit Union and eventually TAPCO Credit Union to represent Tacoma and Pierce County.
Membership is available for anyone who lives, goes to school, works or worships in the state of Washington. As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, TAPCO's members are part-owners and benefit from our collective success. Each member has one vote, regardless of how much money the member has on deposit, which ensures democratic member control.
