At TAPCO, we're dedicated to our members and the community we serve. While striving to provide the highest quality of products and services for our members, we are also dedicated to supporting several local community events and projects during the year that support our mission. Our employees generously donate their time and money to support these community programs. Together with our members and community partners, we are committed to making a positive impact in our community.

TAPCO delivered to those in need attending Tacoma Community College. The campus sits across from TAPCO's Main branch serving approximately 10,000 students. TAPCO was able to donate hundreds of food items collected from our member Shred Day event, and we also delivered cash donations. On top of that, TAPCO donated a brand new and much need refrigerator to the pantry. The Fridge will allow the pantry to stock items such as eggs and frozen goods. HopesCloset
Team TAPCO came together to collect a van full of clothing to donate to HopesCloset in Tacoma. The non-profit provides clothing, hygiene items, cleaning supplies, and more to those in need in Pierce County. Families can make appointments to have a personal shopping experience at HopesCloset Boutique. The innovative approach provides a warm environment and a dignified shopping experience. Young Business Men of Washington
TAPCO delivered snacks to Young Business Men of Washington (YBMW), a local non-profit that works with local young men ages 13-24 to rise above negative influences and socio-economic factors that frequently limit opportunities for success. Having snacks available allows the teens and young adults to have the energy they need to study and be productive during and after school. Red Barn Youth Center
Red Barn Youth Center's mission is to provide a safe, supervised place for Key Peninsula youth in 6th through 12th grade to go after school to have fun, find guidance, develop positive relationships, and become community-minded citizens. TAPCO donated two large, heavy-duty steel racks for the organization and many items off their shopping list, such as toilet paper, dry-erase markers, Band-Aids, chocolate chips, popcorn, and goldfish crackers.
CAPE - Career & Pathway Expo
TAPCO participated with CAPE – Career and Pathway Expo, Connecting Super Girls with Super Mentors through STEAM. CAPE hosted an event that connects 250 6th-8th grade females from the Peninsula SD with career mentors from the community. The girls were able to learn about opportunities for STEAM careers and get hands-on experience with female industry leaders. TAPCO Graphic Designer, Maddie Bush, led a hands-on workshop that taught students how art and technology could be a career pathway.
Anthem Coffee Takeover
In December 2022, TAPCO partnered with Anthem Coffee & Tea to take over their Pierce County locations for a morning. TAPCO representatives were at each of the 7 locations buying coffee for the unsuspecting customers. In addition we had a TAPCO Shirt Shop pop-up at the newly reopened Stadium District location offering the opportunity for customers to buy some last minute holiday gifts that support local non-profits.
Thanksgiving Food Drive
TAPCO partnered with Food Backpacks 4 Kids and collected items for their Thanksgiving Food Drive. With the help of members & staff, we were able to donate butter, pumpkin pie mix, and canned yams to provide a complete Thanksgiving meal to those in need.
International Credit Union Day
TAPCO, along with 3 other Pierce County-based credit unions joined forces for ICU Day to complete three service projects across the county. 48 Volunteers from the credit unions helped remove invasive plants from Bradley Lake Park in Puyallup, clean a greenspace of trash in South Tacoma and paint a homes in a Tiny Home Village in Tacoma.
Stuff the Bus + Fill the Canoe School Supply Drive
TAPCO branches around Pierce County joined forces with Communities in School Tacoma & Puyallup to collect school supplies for students in the county. Our generous members & staff collected hundreds of pounds worth of supplies to get students off to a great start this school year.
Clothing Drive & Giveaway
TAPCO partnered with Food Backpacks 4 Kids in Gig Harbor to collect items for their clothes drive & giveaway. In August 2022 they had a large clothing giveaway at the Key Peninsula Civic Center. Clothing was provided to the community at no charge.
Tacoma Pride Festival
TAPCO joined 20,000 people to celebrate Tacoma Pride in Downtown Tacoma. Our booth proved to be a popular destination. We gave out our limited edition Pride stickers and Pride flags, along with selling a record number of shirts from our Shirt Shop, with 100% of proceeds benefiting the Tacoma Rainbow Center.
Maritime Gig Festival - Gig Harbor
TAPCO was a proud sponsor of the 2022 Maritime Gig Festival on Gig Harbor's Waterfront. TAPCO booth offered all kinds of goodies for kids and their parents, along with sponsoring the popular bounce house. We are glad to have this event back in the community after a 2-year absence.
Foss Waterway Seaport Pollinator Garden
The Foss Waterway Seaport had a vision of beautifying its Dock Street frontage while supporting the environment. Team TAPCO was there to help bring the Pollinator Garden to life by planting the plants in the new garden. Plants that attract bees and other pollinators will help the natural ecosystem stay strong.
United Way of Pierce County
Team TAPCO came together on this employee-driven project, collecting items to create Senior Care Kits for local residents. The items collected included chapstick, hand sanitizer, cups, adult coloring books, pens & paper. The United Way of Pierce County will put the kits to good use in the community.
Raising Girls
To help Celebrate Women's History Month, Team TAPCO gathered feminine hygiene products and other toiletries for the local organization Raising Girls. "Raising Girls aims to help ensure that all girls feel pride in who they are and understand the power they have to be unique individuals, who can make a difference.”
Food Backpacks 4 Kids
TAPCO Gig Harbor heard the call for cheese from the local non-profit Food Backpacks 4 Kids and went into action to deliver the cheddar. Team TAPCO was able to provide over 80 cheese items for Food Backpacks 4 Kids will distribute to hungry and food-insecure children and their families living on the Key Peninsula and in Gig Harbor.
Lions 4 Kids House
TAPCO Bonney Lake helped support the Lions 4 Kids House in December with not only a donation of gifts, toys & necessities but also volunteering time with the organization. The Lions 4 Kids House is ran by the Bonney Lake Lions Club and provides children in need with clothing, personal care items, school supplies, and gifts during the holidays.

TAPCO Food Drive
TAPCO Branches supported Emergency Food Network and Nourish Food Bank throughout November 2021. Members were encouraged to drop off food donations when visiting a branch. TAPCO also accepted monetary donations as part of the food drive. In total, members and staff raised over 700 items of food and $726 in monetary donations. With the help of TAPCO, each community partner was given a check for $500 in addition to the non-perishable food items.
Puget Sound Pet Food Bank
Team TAPCO loves pets and knows the joy they bring to so many people's lives. TAPCO staff recently donated pet food, treats, and cat litter to the Puget Sound Pet Food Bank in Tacoma (with a second location in Spanaway). The Pet Food Bank distributes pet food and supplies to rescue, veteran, and homeless programs in our community along with local food banks.

Comprehensive Life Resources
TAPCO Main Branch supported Comprehensive Life Resources (CLR) and their Wrap Around Intensive Service (WISe) clients by donating Halloween costumes in October 2021. WISe is available to Medicaid-eligible children and youth 20 years or younger with complex emotional, behavioral, and social issues. Halloween costumes also came with candy and other goodies for the kids to enjoy this season!

2021 International Credit Union Day
Team TAPCO was out in the community for International Credit Union Day! ICU Day celebrates the spirit of the global credit union movement. The day is recognized to reflect upon the credit union movement's history, promote its achievements, recognize hard work and share member experiences.
TAPCO had two teams out in the community. One team helped restore natural vegetation at Titlow Park by removing invasive blackberry bushes, planting native plants and laying mulch. The other team removed old bark around the Bonney Lake Public Safety building and replaced it with rocks, along with spreading mulch.
Metro Animal Shelter
TAPCO staff made blankets to support the Metro Animal Shelter in Puyallup. There crafting skills will help our furry friends to be more comfortable and warm. In addition, staff donated pet food, treats and toys. Metro Animal Shelter protects and unites pets through support, advice, licensing and adoption of pets to their forever home.
TAPCO staff loves supporting the community and looks forward to any opportunity to give back.

City of Fircrest National Night Out
In partnership with the Fircrest Police Department and 16,000 neighborhoods across the nation, National Night Out is our opportunity to celebrate the summer, our community, and the strong ties we share with our local law enforcement. Every year, we look forward to taking the first Tuesday in August to get to know our neighbors.
6th Avenue Santa Parade
On a chilly Sunday night in December, you can find Team TAPCO marching along 6th Avenue spreading Christmas cheer with jolly carolers and Santa Claus following closely behind. We’re proud to sponsor this fun, festive family event to kick off the holiday season with our friends at the 6th Avenue Business District.
Art on the Ave
From State to Alder, Art on the Ave is Tacoma’s biggest festival! We turn the parking lot of our 6th Avenue branch into a stage for a summer afternoon full of live music, art, and uniquely Tacoma culture. With friends, neighbors, and creatives lining the street with a beer in hand, this summer festival is not to be missed!
Tacoma Farmer’s Market Apple-A-Day
For five years and counting, we’ve had the pleasure of serving as the title sponsor of the Tacoma Farmer’s Market Apple-A-Day program. In partnership with the market, this service benefits children and families in Pierce County by expanding access to fresh fruits and vegetables across all farmer’s market locations. We’re proud to support a program that celebrates local farmers and creates lifelong healthy eaters! Come see Moola the Cash Cow every third Thursday during the Broadway market season.
Credit Union Lunch Local Day
Each fall, we join thousands of credit unions around the country to dine out “cash mob” style in support of the local, small businesses that make our communities great. By taking our lunch break to order in from the deli on the corner or to grab a cup of coffee from a locally-owned espresso stand (while encouraging our members to join us), we’re taking a stand in support of local businesses in our community.
Polar Plunge
You can always count on Team TAPCO to be freezin’ for a reason as we brave the icy waters of the Puget Sound at the Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Washington. In partnership with the Crime Stoppers of Tacoma and Pierce County, our team fundraising efforts help support 18,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities across Washington State. The cold is temporary—but the impact isn’t!
